Introduction to the Theme Overview of Contents The Basic Law and Me The Law of Living in Hong Kong References for Teachers
There are two themes in the learning materials for Primary 4. Theme (1) "The Basic Law and Me" contains two units that allow students to learn about the birth of the Basic Law, and help them understand the contents of the Basic Law through a mysterious theft on campus. The design of the learning materials and activities is based on the Preamble, the articles in Chapter I: General Principles, Chapter III: Fundamental Rights and Duties of the Residents and Annex III of the Basic Law. Theme (2) "The Law of Living in Hong Kong" contains three units that provide learning activities such as dramas, discussions and card games to introduce how the Basic Law protects the rights of Hong Kong residents. The design of the learning materials and activities is based on the articles in Chapter III: Fundamental Rights and Duties of the Residents of the Basic Law.

The contents of the two learning themes come with different activities and life situations. They work with diverse learning strategies, learning resources and activities to allow students to understand how residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) enjoy the rights and take up the duties under the protection of the Basic Law, and the relationship between the Central Authorities and the HKSAR.
